Michael founded 8K in 2009 with Barrett McClish. Michael is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, earning an MBA with a focus in Real Estate Finance and Development in 2015. Over the course of 8K’s existence, Michael has overseen the development and renovation of over 50,000 square feet of single and multi-family units along with over 9,000 ft of commercial space. At 8K, Michael’s responsibilities and expertise include On-Site Construction Management, Job Estimating, Design Consultation and Outside Sales and Management. Under Michael’s leadership, 8K has cultivated a reputation for being a trusted community partner. As such, 8K has developed valuable partnerships with non-profit, mission-driven developers along with the City of Cincinnati.
Barrett was trained in Architecture at the University of Cincinnati’s prestigious College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture in 2007. After working as an architect in San Francisco, Barrett returned to Cincinnati in 2009 and founded 8K along with Michael Fischer. Over the course of 8K’s existence, Barrett has overseen the development and renovation of over 50,000 square feet of single and multi-family units along with over 9,000 ft of commercial space. At 8K, Barrett’s role includes Design Development, Site Superintendent and Lead Carpenter. Barrett also develops and oversees the implementation of best practices in the construction of every 8K project.
Michael has been an active Real Estate Developer and Agent since 2011. Graduating with an accounting degree from the University of Cincinnati, he quickly discovered his passion for urban redevelopment. Michael has led the effort to develop over 250 apartments in Over-the-Rhine and Downton Cincinnati, securing over $20M sophisticated capital instruments including Historic Tax Credits, Tax Abatements, and Governmental Debt. He has also led the property & asset management efforts for a portfolio of over 500 market-rate apartments in Cincinnati’s center city.
